这天早晨，西东京劳动基准监督署迎来新的成员——曾把前一个机关的上司愁秃脑袋的段田凛（竹内结子 饰）。劳监署的主要职责是监督、指导、纠正用人单位各种不符合规范、滥用职权的不正当行为，但是在当前社会形态和法规体系下，劳监署形同虚设，这里的机关人员也都混沌度日，虚与委蛇。可是段田不然，她做事极度认真、公私分明，一旦发现企业有任何不规范的行为，也不管职权和计划一定要当面指出，督促改正，热血沸腾时刻甚至还会和法人代表大打出手。她的行事作风令真锅署长（佐野史郎 饰）、上司土手山（北村一辉 饰）以及直接指导他工作的南三条和也（松坂桃李 饰）大伤脑筋，但同时她也潜移默化影响着这群习惯了既有模式的同僚。 “无聊工作”的意义得到体现，劳动者的权利得到保障成为他们最开心的事……
